Australian Brain Cancer Mission - $100 million fund to fight brain cancer

Dear COGNO members,

It was extraordinary to wake up on Sunday morning to the news that a $100 Million fund has been established to fight brain cancer. This is the result of intense advocacy from a number of groups around Australia, which culminated in the ‘Brain Cancer Round Table’ convened by Minister Hunt, which Professor Mark Rosenthal and I attended in August. The result of that meeting was a Brain Cancer Roadmap, which incorporates clinical trials as one of the important pillars that will help the Fund achieve the goal of improving brain cancer survival. COGNO will continue to play a lead role in brain cancer clinical trials in Australia and to contribute strongly to key international clinical trials. I urge COGNO members to work collaboratively to identify the most important questions which have the potential to improve patient outcomes, and to engage the COGNO Scientific Advisory Committee at the earliest opportunity to develop strong clinical trial proposals.

Together, we now have an unparalleled opportunity to improve the lives of our patients and their families.

With kind regards,
